Transition Production Music Library

Composing for the Transition production music library has become a meaningful part of my creative output. It’s a space where I can explore drones, texture, and emotion without the need for words — where music can simply breathe and belong to an image.

Transition Music Corporation has a long history of connecting composers with film and television, and I feel fortunate to have some of 5 albums of my work represented in their catalogue. Their focus has always been on authenticity and craft, and that sense of care is something I really value.

When I write for the Transition Production Music Library, I’m usually thinking about small emotional details — the quiet pulse of a scene, the space between dialogue, or the atmosphere of a landscape.

My contributions to the library are built around that idea of quiet and subtle storytelling. Some pieces lean into ambient stillness, others have a slow-moving rhythm or evolving dark drone. Each one is written with the aim of supporting the image rather than drawing attention to itself.

You can explore the collection here. It includes a mix of ambient, cinematic, and textural cues, all designed to blend naturally with film and television narratives.

What drew me to Transition Music Corporation in the first place was their understanding of what production music can be. They treat it not as filler or background, but as a legitimate form of composition — one that plays a subtle but important role in how stories are told.

The Music Itself

Each piece I’ve written for Transition begins in the same way: with an image or a mood. Sometimes it’s inspired by nature, sometimes by an imagined film scene. I tend to start with texture — a tone, a subtle rhythm, or a simple chord that sets the emotional theme.

From there, I let the piece unfold slowly. The structure often mirrors how time feels in film — not linear, but fluid. I like to think of these works as atmospheres that can hold a moment in place.

Writing for the Transition Production Music Library has been a way for me to balance form and freedom. There’s the technical side — creating cues that work well under dialogue or transition easily in edit — but also the artistic side, where I can experiment with sound and silence.

For me, this collaboration is an ongoing dialogue between sound and image — a reminder that even the softest music can shape how we feel, see, and remember a story.
